If you hear the Civil Defence Siren turn on and listen to the nearest operating local radio station. Important messages from Civil Defence will be broadcasted first on the following radio stations:

Classic Hits	98.8 FM
Hokonui Gold	94.8 FM
More FM	89.2 FM and 1224 AM
Newstalk ZB	864 AM
Radio Southland	96.4 FM

If none of these stations are on air in a major emergency, you are advised to tune to the station that you can receive with the strongest signal.
